Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how YukDao · 鈺道 (“YukDao”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, stores and shares information when you:

• browse yukdao.com
• use the Chinese Zodiac calculator
• request or access a BaZi analysis
• subscribe to The YukDao Letter
• read or interact with Journal content
• communicate with us by email

We have written this in plain language. If anything here is unclear, write to yukdao.enquiry@gmail.com and we will explain it.

A. Information you provide directly

• Email address
• Birth date
• Birth time, where you provide it
• Whether your birth time is known
• Birth location, as you type it
• Other information you submit when requesting a BaZi analysis

You may enter a first name in the BaZi experience. Under the current implementation, that first name is not saved to the stored BaZi report record.

B. Information generated from your inputs

From what you enter, we may calculate or derive:

• Chinese Zodiac animal
• Chinese Zodiac element
• Five Elements information
• Lucky colours and numbers, where applicable
• Compatibility information
• BaZi chart information
• Interpretation and recommendation content

These readings are cultural and educational. They are not medical, financial or psychological assessments, and they are not scientifically validated.

C. Information collected automatically

When you visit the site, our service providers may process technical information, including:

• IP address
• Browser and device information
• Referring page
• Website usage and interaction information
• Request and server log information
• Approximate location derived from IP address, where applicable

The Chinese Zodiac calculator asks for your birth date and performs its calculation from that input. Using the calculator on its own does not store your birth date or create a profile for you.

If you then submit your email address to unlock the BaZi experience, the information derived from your entry — such as your zodiac animal and associated element — may be associated with your subscription and sent to our newsletter provider.

The Complete BaZi Analysis involves personal birth information, so we describe it separately. When you request a report, we may collect and store:

• Email address
• Birth date
• Birth time, where provided
• Birth location
• Latitude and longitude derived from the supplied location
• Time zone
• The computed BaZi chart
• Interpretation content
• Recommendations
• Report metadata such as creation date and engine version

To convert your birth location into geographic coordinates, the birth-location text you type is sent to the OpenStreetMap Nominatim geocoding service. Your birth date and birth time are not sent to Nominatim.

Our BaZi interpretation engine is rule-based. Under the current implementation, your birth information is not sent to an external AI or large language model provider for interpretation.

Completed reports are accessed through a private signed report link, which is also sent to the email address you provided. Anyone who has that link can open the report, so please treat it as private. These links do not currently expire.

You may voluntarily subscribe to The YukDao Letter from the homepage, the site footer, the Journal, or our early-access pages. The Letter is occasional — we do not commit to a fixed weekly or monthly schedule.

• Email addresses for the Letter are processed through Beehiiv, our newsletter provider.
• We may record where you signed up (for example, homepage or Journal) to understand which parts of the site people join from.
• Some Zodiac and BaZi flows combine functional email delivery with joining The YukDao Letter. Where the form says so, submitting it enrols you in the Letter.
• You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email.

Separately from the Letter, we may send you service emails relating to:

• access to your BaZi report
• retrieving a report link you requested
• other links or communications you have asked for

Newsletter opt-out and suppression of YukDao application emails may be handled by separate systems, so unsubscribing from one does not automatically affect the other. Opting out of a service email does not by itself delete a stored report or other information — for deletion, contact yukdao.enquiry@gmail.com.

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used. Google Analytics may collect information about:

• pages viewed
• browser and device information
• approximate location
• referral information
• interaction events

Some Zodiac interactions generate analytics events that may include derived zodiac information, such as the sign calculated from an entered birth date. Google Analytics may set cookies on your device, including cookies named _ga and similar.

The site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser requests those fonts, technical information such as your IP address and user-agent may be transmitted to Google.

We rely on service providers who process information on our behalf in order to run the site:

• Beehiiv — newsletter subscriptions and newsletter delivery
• Supabase / Lovable Cloud — backend and database infrastructure, including storage of subscriber and BaZi information
• Google Analytics — website analytics
• Google Fonts — typography delivery
• OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — geocoding birth-location text into coordinates
• Lovable email delivery infrastructure — sending BaZi and other requested service emails
• Hosting and edge infrastructure — serving the website and processing necessary technical request information

We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of others.

We do not sell your personal information. We do share information with the service providers listed above, because they are necessary to operate the website and deliver what you have asked for.

Newsletter subscription information may be retained while you remain subscribed and as reasonably necessary afterwards to maintain unsubscribe or suppression records and comply with legal obligations.

BaZi reports and associated birth information are currently retained so that users can retrieve their reports. We are reviewing and developing a formal retention schedule. You may contact us at yukdao.enquiry@gmail.com to request deletion of your stored report information, subject to applicable legal and operational requirements.

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect the information we hold. Access to a BaZi report requires a private signed link rather than a public address.

No website or method of transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

The rights available to you depend on the laws that apply where you live. We will respond to reasonable requests as best we can.

Depending on where you live and whether applicable legal thresholds are met, you may have additional rights concerning your personal information, such as rights to know, access, correct or delete it.

To make such a request, email yukdao.enquiry@gmail.com with a description of what you are asking for. We may need to verify your request, for example by confirming the email address associated with your subscription or report.

The website is accessible globally. Because we rely on the service providers listed above, your information may be processed or stored in countries other than the one you live in, where data protection laws may differ.

YukDao is intended for a general adult audience. YukDao is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we may take steps to delete it. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact yukdao.enquiry@gmail.com.

Journal articles and other pages may link to external websites, including social platforms. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.

We may update this Privacy Policy as YukDao's services and practices develop. When we do, we will revise the effective date shown at the top of this page.
